The USAID funded Urban Health Initiative (UHI) Program’s goal is to improve health outcomes of
people living in urban areas, particularly focusing on the health of women and children and other
vulnerable populations. Interventions aim to increase demand, access and quality of health services. Lead
by Jhpiego and implemented by a dynamic consortium of organizations, UHI is implemented in five cities

1. Screening all visitors who come to hospital.
2. Identifying the suspect case of COVID 19 based on signs and symptoms.
3. Give surgical/N95 Mask, shoes cover, gloves to suspect patient and direct
her/him to medical doctor for more investigation and management.
4. After medical doctor decision and impression COVID-19 suspect case be
registered to suspect register book.
5. After initial assessment, management and stabilization, refer patient to
appropriate COVID-19 care destination for PCR test.
6. In mild cases, screener provides counseling and awareness about danger signs
and encourage her/him to home quarantine for 5 days.
7. Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required within the protocol for
performing COVID-19 screening.
8. Conduct infection prevention cleaning and sanitizing of all high touch areas in the
screening area, and throughout the infection control red zone.
9. Monitor the flow of people entering Health facility to ensure appropriated distancing
between individuals in accord with the social distancing guidelines.
10. Ensure all individuals entering the clinics are wearing masks and hand out masks as
necessary.
11. Encourage all individuals use hand sanitizer prior to entering health facility.

Nursing diploma recognized by Ministry of Public Health Afghanistan
