Job Description:

WSTA has a stand-out position regarding logistic, financial, human, and other resources to support any project and intervention in Samangan, Jawzjan, and Faryab provinces. WSTA ensures the implementation of Sustainable Livelihood Support through the provision of Technical Skills and Knowledge of Embroidery, Spice Making, and Bag Making project with high standards and achieves its objectives and goals.

Technical skills and knowledge are key drivers for sustainable livelihood development. A well-trained and skilled population is crucial for the efficient acquisition, utilization, creation, and dissemination of knowledge and skills that increase productivity, sustainability of livelihood, and economic growth. The primary objective of this project is to support sustainable livelihood through the provision of technical skills and knowledge training, tools, and equipment for embroidery, bag making, and spice making. The project will respond to a total of 1,000 women in Samangan, Faryab, and Jawzjan provinces. In Samangan province, a total of 450 women will receive technical skill and knowledge training and required tools and equipment for three vocational (100 women embroidery, 150 women spice making, and 200 women bag making). In Jawzjan province, a total of 300 women for two vocational (200 women embroidery, 100 women bag making), and in Faryab province a total of 250 women for two vocational (150 women bag making and 100 embroideries). The project duration is five (5) months; one month is for hiring and training of project staff, and mobilization; three months for preparation and delivery of technical training; and one month for closing and PDM survey and final reporting. The main activities of the project that are required to accomplish the project goals are the recruitment of qualified staff and their orientation, project start-up workshop, coordination with stakeholders, procurement and supply of tools and equipment, data collection and assessment, value chain assessment, conducting technical skills and knowledge training and tool kits and equipment distribution, regular monitoring and reporting and conducting the Post Distribution Monitoring (PDM).

Furthermore, the proposed vocational skills are selected based on the initial assessment and understanding of the WSTA team from the ground as WSTA has been working in these provinces since 2012.  For the sustainability of the project, WSTA designated Value Chain Officer who will work with the beneficiaries and conduct a feasibility study, value chain, and market assessments in the local market and select the potential shops and support the beneficiaries in making contracts with them and allocate a specific display for their products. The Value Chain Officer links the potential markets with beneficiaries and this link will sustain the usage of acquired skills and knowledge and create opportunities for their products.

Additionally, the WSTA project team will establish Project Implementation Committees (PICs) at the target locations to support WSTA provincial project team in project implementation. The PICs' role is vital in the identification and, selection of project beneficiaries and monitoring of project activities. The WSTA project team will train the PICs in project implementation and monitoring. WSTA team will efficiently apply its experience, knowledge, skills, and resources to successfully achieve the proposed project’s goals and objectives.

The trainers will be at each provincial offices (Samangan, Faryab, and Jawzjan) is responsible for conducting training for the selected trades. We will assign 6 trainers for Samangan province, 4 for Jawzjan, and 2 for Faryab, based on number of beneficiaries targeted in each province. The trainers are responsible for organizing training sessions and follow up the training and close coordination of project officer and project manager.

 

 

Bachelor’s degree in economics, Business Administration, or related fields

3 years of experience in managing donor-funded projects

Strong organizational and work prioritization skills and attention to detail

Report to donor and program department as required

High level of interpersonal skills and integrity

Good management and analytical skills
