Job Description:
Tasks and Responsibilities:

The Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) Project Engineer is responsible for running and supervising water, sanitation, and hygiene programs at all stages of the project management cycle under AHF funded WASH project. He/she is also responsible for accomplishing the program outputs and outcomes within the contextual constraints. The WASH engineer ensures the overall success of the project by making sure the WASH team completes the defined activities according to the plan and that the activities are completed on time, within budget, and with acceptable quality.

 

Technical assessment and feasibility study of water structures including designing, cost estimation and construction of WASH structures
Provide technical support in preparation of divisional strategies, annual operational plan and budget for WASH department.
Train and provide technical support/guidance to WASH team on WASH soft and hard approach and activities in term of methods and design.
Recommend and implement a capacity building/development plan for project staff based on capacity needs assessments.
Ensure appropriate design, construction and implementation of WASH hardware according to technical standards, as well as proper maintenance and use of WASH equipment.
Develop specific methodologies and tools on WASH monitoring and promote a culture of learning so that lessons learned and good practices are documented and shared for institutional memory and learning.
Track and monitor the progress of activities ensure the collecting of program indicators and provide on-time internal status reports and external donor reports
Carrying out of assessments and post-implementation monitoring or evaluation
Identify and monitor risks, constraints or escalating issues, and inform the hierarchy accordingly.
Ensure that all data and information is updated, well organized and easily accessible and that lessons learnt and best practice are capitalized
Analyse and report on the evolving humanitarian needs and provide clear recommendations for interventions
Drafting of monthly, quarterly and annual report
Develop and produce IEC materials in collaboration with the relevant local authorities.
Any other duties as may be assigned by the Project Supervisor, Provincial or Regional Manager.
 
Job Requirements:
Engineering degree in WASH or Construction
3 years of experience in in WASH and Construction projects with NGOs
Good written and verbal English Language skill
Good reporting skill
Computer (MS Office, and Engineering Software) skill
Ability to travel to the targeted districts
