Job Purpose
The Information Technology Assistant will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the IT section of the BBC Media Action office in Kabul. H/she will ensure that the office can always operate to an optimum level. The Information Technology Assistant will report to the Operations Manager, ensuring enough IT supply is in place at all the time and all IT related items are inventoried. The post holder will maintain the local IT server and all office IT stock and be responsible for advising the BBC Media Action team on best IT practices, IT security and on necessary software upgrades.
Duties & responsibilities:
Update software on office PC’s/laptops and format all new office IT stock.
Advise local staff on correct processes when using IT and related equipment.
Ensure local staffs are compliant with BBC Media Action IT processes and procedures.
Maintain updated inventory tracking of all office supplies, equipment and furniture and undertake regular monitoring checks on the inventory.
Initiate quarterly procurement of office supplies and ensure stocks are maintained to an agreed level.
Coordinate with the BBC Media Action Admin Officer to ensure timely maintenance completed for IT equipment.
Conduct Quarterly training for staffs on new updated IT systems.
Update security systems (Sophos) locally.
Any Other tasks assigned by line supervisor.
Job Requirements:
Essential skills and experience
Higher Education is required, preferably in Information Technology.
Minimum 4-5 years of relevant experience as an IT with an INGO.
At least 3 years of experience with medium size of NGO in the same capacity
Evidence of strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Experienced in building strong working relationships within an office-based team and working with external partners.
Average understanding of IT servers, IT security, internet systems and computer hardware and software.
Experience in using all Microsoft software packages.
Evidence of the ability to deal with multiple tasks at a time and prioritise.
Fluency in Dari & Pashto languages.Excellent working knowledge of English.
Understanding of workplace Health and Safety issues Capacity.
