Position Overview:
The midwife/nurse will be based in maternity ward of Mazar-e-Sharif regional hospital and will provide nursing care service to newborns admitted in the Newborn Stabilization Unit.
Position Reports To: Associate Cluster Manager
Supervisory position:
Location: Balkh
Responsibilities:
Provide nursing care services to newborn admitted in newborn stabilization unit.
Provide immediate care to receive the newborn and follow the medical order made by responsible doctor.
Provide immediate resuscitation and care for sick newborns referred from maternity ward.
Checking/monitoring vital signs of sick newborns and record it properly in patients’ file.
Administering medications, vaccination, oxygen therapies to sick newborns timely based on doctors’ order.
Provide specialized nursing care to newborn when placing to incubator/warmer machines.
Explaining procedures and discussing test results or prescribed treatments to parents’ and family members.
Monitoring newborns' conditions/progress and follow the recommendation of medical doctors made to each individual newborn.
Facilitate referring of newborns to neonatal intensive care unit of pediatric ward when recommended by relevant medical doctor.
Supporting mothers on breastfeeding and feeding support.
Attend the morning report in maternity ward and report updates on nursing care of his/her duties.
Perform any other task assigns by in charge doctors.
Job Requirements:
Qualification Required:
Certified Midwives/Nurse from recognized institutes
At least two years of work experience in a relevant field.
Abilities/Skills:
Ability to work successfully in teams, across a diverse team in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines and intense pressure to perform
Strong skills in facilitation, team building and coordination
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including strong writing, analytical and communication skills in Dari, Pashtu and English (preferable)
