Job Description:
         Scope of work:

Midwifery instructors, play a vital role in the field of midwifery. They teach students essential skills and knowledge which is required for midwifery care practices. Midwifery instructors are responsible for planning, designing and implementing Community Midwifery Education (PDMEC) curricula for PDMEC students. They teach students who are earning Community Midwifery Diplomas. midwifery instructors educate PDMEC students in simulated center, theory classrooms, and hence students’ clinical learning at Community Health Centres including Health Post (HP), Basic Health Centres (BHCs), Comprehensive Health Centres (CHCs) and may supervise students’ learning at District Hospitals (DHs).

Instructor of PDMEC will be responsible teaching for both the theory, clinical, and simulated center. In addition, he/she will be responsible to develop plan, schedule and coordinate the activities with course coordinator of the program.

Main Responsibilities

Facilitate a positive academic and clinical learning environment while delivering theoretical session and providing safe health care services
Conducts theoretical and clinical instruction and supervision of students while in the theory and clinical setting
Assess competency of students, related to achievement of skills and theoretical knowledge and gives supportive and constructive feedback
Participates in PDMEC curriculum development:
Participate in student recruitment, registration, and placement activities
Assists with maintaining personnel files for all students including record of theoretical knowledge assessment
Monitors attendance of students and keeps attendance log.
Supports the students throughout the program and offers counseling on personal or study related problems
Assists the student to find answers to questions and apply theory to practice
Participates in meetings, report writing, and dissemination of information related to the program as requested
Identifies and participates in personal professional development opportunities to ensure that current best practice standards are used in teaching practice.

Job Requirements:
Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in related professional field (Midwifery graduated from recognized university of IHS)
Computer skill at operator level, especially with MS Office packages.
Fluency Dari and/or Pashto, both written and spoken and knowledge of English
Interpersonal and communication skills
Supervisory, team worker, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
Experience of planning, reporting and training
Ability and willingness to travel to the project sites within Afghanistan and adjust to SCA environment.
Honest, proactive and well mannered
 

Experience:

3-4 years’ relevant experience, especially within an NGO, UN agencies or similar organization for the same position of coordinator or trainer
